a housewife loves
cooking, but lately she found herself fighting nausea and fending off abdominal
cramps more and more often. But ever the optimist, Tapti concluded that stomachaches and

Almost as soon as
her feet touched the hospital, Tapti was in her doctor’s office — but not for her abdominal
pain. She was undergoing a routine CT test to monitor another condition when the
radiologist caught a glimpse of her gall bladder. In Kolkata, Sanjoy Mandal,

CT scan and found that the gall bladder had expand a whole lot beyond
normal size to nearly 12 inches, in preference to the natural
length of 3 -5 inches.
The gallbladder is a small organ that is located underneath the

Hospital had removed the gall bladder, which was acknowledged by Guinness Book as
the longest gallbladder.

surgeon in Kolkata who conducted the surgery says “Though laparoscopic gallbladder surgery in
India are common but Tapti Bhowmik case was a very serious case since bile
duct was under pressure caused due to stones which was causing discomfort and further
complications due to her complicated medical conditions, she was facing like COPD,
hypothyroidism and diabetes mellitus,” Mandal said.
